Clean it Up

Sometimes there is no perfect image to tell the story and an image needs to be created that tells the message in a clear way. Without misrepresenting, we have used 3 images and a range of image editing to create such an image.

Our first shot shows a working lab with a technician using the client’s devices. This image will be used for a trade show, so we want to keep it uncluttered with a focus on the foreground and the machine in action. We need to clean up the background still keeping a lab environment.

We set up a shot to create an image that will be used for the background. The camera is on a tripod and attached (tethered) to a computer. Care was taken to photograph in a similar perspective so that the 2 images would work well together. Using the original image as a template we were able to quickly review our new background shot by overlaying it with the original in Photoshop.

Once the 2 images are married we need to clean up some elements (areas circled in red). The bins to the right of the monitor need to be replaced with one of the clients products so one more image needs to be photographed using the same technique as above.

The final shows all 3 images composed together along with the edited adjustments. Further tweaking of color in the background and subtle lighting changes pull it all together.
